Back at it!

I am back at it. As I sit in my cute little orange office, I hear the same voice in my head that speaks to me every time I come back from a break with my kids. Luckily when they are out of school, I can work mobile. It never fails, when we return to our normal routine I am haunted by a voice that says: "Buckle down, work more, get more clients, grow more, make more money, etc." Blah to the bliggity blah.

Who says smart business is always about getting bigger? Maybe some of us are just meant to handle small projects and grow as the seasons change in our lives. So this year, I refuse to let the voice win. I will NOT over commit and instead of worrying about getting more clients, I am going to sit back and let God bring them to me. Being available to my children is the most important thing I can do, and as much as I love working, I have to trust that I am doing just what God wants me to do in this season of my life.

So here's to being responsible with my time, and starting off the new work year right. Today I did it in color, wish me luck!

Spring Break FUN!

Love that trailer in the back ground right? HA!

A ride on the ferris wheel at the Strawberry Festival!

Visiting "the" Winter of Dolphin Tale! She is on the right.

Spent the afternoon at the beach! <3
Sometimes I complain about not having enough work at my PR firm, Crescendo. I am constantly thinking of ways to get more clients, more work, and generate more income. But lately, I am learning contentment. Maybe God is protecting me from becoming too busy while my littles are little. Otherwise, I wouldn't have time to take them on day trips, and spend time with them that I will never get back. I am reminded to be thankful for the work I do have, and cherish the time I am allowed to share with the most important people in my life! :)

Whatcha Waiting For?

Top and pants: Banana Republic, Belt J. Crew

Clutch: Olivia & Joy, Ring, bracelet, and earrings: David Yurman

Shoes: Poetic License
When we arrived at the mall yesterday I realized yet again why procrastination is evil. But in my defense, being a working mother I haven't had much time to go out and shop. I started asking myself while being bumped into and pushed around in a busy store why we do this to ourselves. I love the idea of gifts, but at what point is enough enough? I put so much pressure on myself to make sure each child has equal amounts, etc. Did I buy enough? Will anyone be disappointed? It is exhausting. So when I got home last night and started going through my purchases over the last few weeks, I realized that it was more than enough. What am I teaching my children about Christmas if all I can think about is the gifts??? So in this case I do believe less is more, and not just to make things easier on me....but to remind myself that the little gifts are nothing in comparison to the HUGE gift that God gave to us. So be gone stress...I am done! Next challenge: the grocery store! YIKES! :)

Cool Enough for Tights!

Dress: Marshalls, Belt: J. Crew, Blazer: Loft, Watch: Michele, Booties: Seychelles

This morning it was cool enough for tights. Apparently I wasn't cool enough to iron. I didn't realize just how wrinkled I was until I downloaded the pictures! HA welcome to motherhood!

Day 26: Wowzers What a Day!

The Dress, Top: matty m., Vest: Target, Booties: Sam Edelman

Ring: Stella & Dot, aka the satellite dish
All I can say is wowzers what a day! I have been doing last minute media pitches for a client of mine, working on preparing a media plan for a local triathlon and jazz festival, and reviewing website copy and a commercial for another client. Oh, and I left out my haircut in between...thank you Jen...you are a lifesaver! My children are only part time at their preschool so I flew in to get them, as I was running late due to my active morning. I remembered while walking out that my husband had dropped them off for me and I had to grab two car seats along with my two toddlers and try to make it out to the car. It was kind of funny because it took a team effort to make this happen as the director of the school offered to come out with me to the car, thank you Carrie! So I get to the car and there is another sweet mom offering to fasten in the other car seat while I was working on one. This sounds silly, but with the crazy morning I had, just that extra little help touched my heart! Talk about showing Jesus to someone....that's what those ladies were doing right at that moment and they probably didn't even know it! Now on to my second job: House Chef!

Day 20: Turn it UP!

The Dress, Blazer: Loft, Shoes: Nine West, Necklace: Stella & Dot

Thinking about how bad I need a haircut!

I love the stitching on this blazer!
Had a great presentation this morning for a great group of young professionals! I was really surprised at how receptive  everyone was! I think they really liked their lollipops! :) I threw on a blazer for a more "professional" look and I think it worked well! So- only 11 more days to go, and I am OUT of this dress! The temps have cooled here so I am looking forward to incorporating some layers! Enjoy the rest of your day!

You Can't Be Fabulous Every Day!

Well, this is how I came to work today, post run and all! You just can't be fabulous everyday. Although, I am happy to say that the 5 mile run was just what I needed to clear my head and be productive during my few short hours at the office. So I mananged a few social media accounts, drafted a press release, and  edited some photos for an article I am writing. Now on to pick up children from early release day at school! Cheers to getting the job done......no matter the outfit!

I'm in a Hurry and Don't Know Why???

Top: Free People, M. Marie Boutique, Skirt: Thrifted, Shoes: Seychelles

I know what you are thinking, does she EVER iron? Short answer: No! Just kidding, I really did iron this skirt, but after stripping sheets and dressing toddlers- this is what it looks like. This morning, I was in an unusal hurry to get to MOPS, (mothers of preschoolers). It is my weekly blessing. I look forward to talking to other moms and feeling less crazy, and to hearing Gwen Diaz teach. Let me tell you, she is the BEST bible study teacher in the world! As I left my house, I could see the dark clouds above, and it was certain that a torrential downpour was coming. I thought to myself, I will just out run it so we don't get soaked going in....then, my gas light came on. I whip into the gas station, pump my gas, and leave in a hurry not realizing I was WAY too close to that little 1/2 pole by the pump. Scratchhhhhhh down the side of my Suburban! Nice. I keep going headed to the light praying that it was not as bad as it sounded. I look to my left and a nice lady is telling me to roll down my window. "Did you know scratched the side of your Surburban?" Me: "Yes, I just wasn't ready to look at it yet." That's how my day started! Hubs was really sweet though, (sometimes it helps to call sobbing.) Anyway, being at MOPS reminded me how in a hurry I always seem to be. What am I in such a rush for? Seriously....? I then decided it wasn't worth it, and I am going to do a better job of being prepared, and living in the moment instead of rushing to the next task. Hoping your Monday/Tuesday was a little better than mine...and here's to a great Wednesday!

The Bright Side

Multi-tasking, dressing while testing tripod setting!
Top: Target, Skirt: Loft, Shoes: Nine West, Watch: Michele, Jewelry: Stella & Dot, Bag: Big Buddah

Exhausted! Late presentation last night, new client appt. this morning, screaming toddlers, fighting older childern, and my laptop power cord broke and my laptop is completely dead. Not to mention work projects due and no way to access my files. GREAT! I know, enough complaining...find the light, which is I have work, and a healthy family and more. I just don't like to dissapoint, when I say something will be done, I get it done. When stuff happens and I get behind, I get stressed. Urg! So today, my favorite part of the day was my outfit, which did a good job of helping me see the bright side!

The Breaking and Entering, High Speed Getaway!

Personality Amplified!

Photos by my wonderful business partner! Dress: Calvin Klein, Jewelry: Stella & Dot
Sunnies: Tom Ford, Shoes: Adrienne Vittadini

Trying to explain how I have muscle spasms in my face when someone is taking my picture.
Why does it make me so nervous?
Did the title get your attention? That's what I was hoping for. The first picture listed would be the suspect. My little 2 1/2 year old K. Yesterday while attempting to get caught up on some housework, I heard the slam of my office desk drawer followed by the Mickey Mouse car fleeing away at high speeds across the tile floor. I followed my little K in his room and asked, "What do you have in there?", and he of coarse responds with, "Nothing!", (shaking his head adamantly). I then proceed to remove him from the seat of his car, open the lid, and find inside: my sharp sissors, a measuring tape, a 2" puncher, and clear duct tape on a roll with a razor sharp cutting edge. What in the world??? The kid will get into ANYTHING and if it is extra dangerous....it motivates him more. Anyway just a peak inside of the life of a working mom. I found light in this article which speaks to the fact that we should all just accept we can't be perfect or "supermom" and we won't be depressed! Cheers!

16/30-Color=Happy!

This outfit was so much FUN! I love the colorful happiness of it! Unfortunately, I feel as if I am coming down with a cold so I can use all the happiness I can find! My company, Crescendo Public Relations had a proposal due today. I am praying that it is the start of a great working relationship with a new client! The other exciting news is I am planning my first runway show for a Platform Art event in April! It is going to be SO very cool! I can't give away the surprises...but the runway show will be an artful spin-off of the Wizzard of Oz! In addition I am also planning a PR 101 seminar for mid-March. Those tasks combined with 4 kids = a very busy mommy! I love my work, ALL of it! Even as my 2 and 3 year old are currently melting down as they fight over a toy in the living room! It's all good! Tomorrow is my day home with them, so I am thinking a long run, the park for lunch, and NAPS!!! Top: Johnny Was, Dress: J. Crew, Belt: Banana Republic, Shoes: Ross, Necklace: Stella & Dot. Oh and the amazing pop-up book was a gift from my husband for Valentine's Day! I LOVE it! If you love shoes, it is a must have! I know it is available on Amazon, but I believe he picked it up at Borders!
