The Flip Flop Fail

My sliver Havaianas. My go-to pair of flops for just about every occasion. We have traveled miles together.....until yesterday.

Yes my friends, I blew out my flip flop......and nearly blew my shop fast in the process. 

After my over dramatic "OH NO" my husband says, "Why are you so upset? You can find those anywhere." Maybe so....but I am not shopping right now. Well, we leave for our annual trip to Vero Beach on Friday. How in the world will I make the trip without my favorite pair of flops? By the way, this is sounding sillier by the minute as I type this out. Am I really this attached to a pair of rubber flops?

So, I am going to get really honest now. Within minutes, I had logged on to Nordstrom.com. I had the pair pulled up and placed them in my shopping cart, all the while justifying the purchase.....free shipping, they could be a summer gift from Michael, I have spending money in my Dave Ramsey envelope, etc. The moment that I hovered over the checkout button, something stopped me.

Am I REALLY going to break my shop fast for a pair of flip flops???

Well,  I avoided the checkout and walked away from the MacBook. This morning I sat and thought about the free pair of Tory Burch flops, that I was recently able to purchase with a gift card they sent me. God provided, and here I was again wanting more. Lesson learned, and I will be headed to the beach with my other 20 pairs. ;)

I think its important to share my struggles along with my victories, so this post had to happen. And as I toss my sliver slims in the garbage, I pick my self up....and shop fast on!

Repeat?

I'm pretty sure this outfit is a repeat. I didn't take the time to go through the blog to check, or iron the shorts, if I can be completely honest. These shorts are great but they are that wrinkle material that only looks good before washing, you have to know what I am talking about. There is no iron that can reclaim their original appeal.

An update on the shop fast, no purchases yet! I am nearing the end of my 8th month. I had some temptation before heading to the beach last weekend. A new hat was calling my name, but I made use of what I had and it didn't kill me. My trips to Target are less and less, and my couponing and budget shopping skills have increased. My prayer is to keep focus when the light turns green in October! :)

Spring Fever

The past couple of days I have stood in my closet and felt an overwhelming desire to shop. I haven't felt tempted much at all over the past seven months, so this HAS to be what they call spring fever.

spring fever n. A feeling of restlessness, excitement, or laziness brought on by the coming of spring.

My specific desire is to have something new. I lack nothing, but this desire to sport something new has definitely been creeping. SO-in my best defense mode I dug to the depths of my shoe rack, which is stacked in such a way that my dresses cover it. Unless I take the time to dig, I forget what's there and go to what is in sight. To my delight, I found these Charles David gladiators that I haven't worn in forever. Instantly, the desire to find something new was replaced by finding something I didn't know I had. Same story with these white J. Crew capri pants that I purchased last summer! So there you have it, a new to me outfit! Crisis averted :) 

Fun and Fabulous Friday!

I am so thankful it's Friday! This week has been absolutely nuts playing catch up from my Vegas trip. I am not complaining, as I am blessed to have some great projects going on right now, but I could sure use some down time.  My children's schedules alone are enough to keep me hopping. The plan is to grill steaks at home tonight, and visit with friends. The older I get, the more I appreciate evenings in!

The shopfast is going strong, and I am happy to report that my Banana Republic, Nordstrom, and Neiman Marcus cards are all paid off! We are having a card cutting party at church Sunday. I am a little nervous about saying goodbye to my Nordstrom notes, but I know myself.....and the card has to go. God has been so good to us, I can't afford not to be obedient on this. Old habits will come creeping for sure, and I need to be ready! Anyway, thank you all for your encouragement through this year, it helps keep me going! XO

Happy Valentine's Day!

Much like the weather here in Florida, my outfit today does not make much sense. One day sunny in shorts, the next cool and rainy. I mean...who wears rain boots with snakeskin print skinnies anyway? Oh yeah, I do. Despite the rain, I am having a lovely Valentine's Day with my family. I have received some beautiful artwork from my children, along with cards and chocolates.

There was one special gift from eShakti too. I have been given the choice of one item from their new spring line, and I have narrowed it down to my top three favorites, but I need help!
