Day 22-The One Pic Wonder

For those of you who have to work with a tripod, you will understand my frustration this afternoon. The clouds, the angle, my hair, the way this shirt was falling on me, etc. I couldn't get a good picture to save my life. I am convinced my neighbors think I am either nuts, or completely vain standing outside taking photos of myself all of the time. This was the best I could do today, my one pic wonder.

Sweet Surprises

Dress & Belt: J. Crew, Blazer: Victoria's Secret Catalog, Shoes: Sam Edleman

My nieces and nephew
I love to mix frilly things I would wear in the summer with blazers and belts for fall! What I love even more is seeing surprise pictures of my nieces and nephews posted on my FB wall! My sister lives in France, she and her husband adopted these three from Brazil a couple of years ago...so I haven't even met them yet. Aren't they ADORABLE????? She made sure to point out the little one was sporting the flag! :) They went through years of IVF treatment with no success. But as you can see from the picture above, God had other plans and boy did he come through....well, He always does!

Day 28 & 29-Almost There!

The Dress, Necklace: Stella & Dot, Belt: J. Crew, Watch: Michael Kors

Seychelles

The Dress, Shirt: Elizabeth & James, Necklace: Stella & Dot, Boots: Hunter
Two more days to go! I have to say, I picked the perfect dress for this challenge! I was able to style it easily because it was strapless and denim, great for layering and went with anything! I haven't worn the black dress from last year since the challenge, but I do think I will wear this again. It will be a while....but I really do like it. I have got to get on the ball this week, the Women's Half Marathon is in less than a month and I have to get my milage up! I didn't get my miles in this week due to work....so I HAVE to focus over the next couple of weeks. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! :)

Day 24: Silly!

The Dress, Top: Loft, Belt: J. Crew, Shoes: Michael Antonio

I love these for the summer/fall transition, yes we are still transitioning, it's Florida!

I have a thing for mixing and layering my bracelets lately

Sometimes you have to be silly for your 10 year old photographer
Thank you to my daughter Leanna for the pictures today! I have seven more days to go. I am SO excited to get reacquainted with the rest of my closet. The dress really hasn't been that bad at all, but I am ready to throw on some jeans. The weather has warmed back up a bit, unfortunately before I had a chance to wear tights or leggings. I just can't handle either when it is warm out. The kids were out of school today so we ran 3 miles, played outside, and had a backyard picnic. You would have thought I told them we were going to Disney. My kids LOVE to picnic! We are doing a mini family photo shoot this weekend, to benefit our MOPs group- and my talented friend Trish suggested that we do a picnic theme. She has the greatest vision for photo shoots so I can't wait to see what she comes up with! Wishing you a week full of blessings! :)

Day 21: 10 More Days to GO!

The Dress, Vest: Bisou Bisou, Shoes: Ann Klein, Bracelet: Loft
Finally have some cooler temps! YAY! Cool enough to sport my faux fur vest I found at a consignment shop for $6.00. I am excited about a fun weekend of spending time with my family and one Halloween party that I still need a costume for. I guess I better quit wasting time and get creative, oh and I am NOT wearing the dress!!! :)

Day 7: October Dress Project

The Dress, Belt: Target, Shoes: Kohls, Bag: Thrifted, Necklace: My Grana's
Today was the first day that I did NOT want to wear the dress. But I powered through. Dinner and pie with our friends motivated me! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

Day 6, October Dress Project

The Dress, White T: Walmart, Fedora: Husband's, Sunnies: Tom Ford,
Shoes & Belt: Target, Necklace: Stella & Dot

Stole my husband's hat today, really helped with the fact that I didn't want to fix my hair! Busy day running around crazy, planning a surprise for my friend who is bringing home her baby girl today! Another friend and I hijacked a key to their house so that we could stop by, tidy up, and leave her a little welcome home yumminess! Tonight, I will bake a chocolate pie to surprise another friend tomorrow evening. Thank goodness all of these treats are for others or I may not fit into this dress for the next 25 days!

Day 5: Let's Celebrate!

The Dress, Vintage Tunic, Beads: thrifted at What's New Consigment, Bracelets: mixed
Belt: Banana Republic, Shoes: Plenty by Tracy Reese, Bag: Michael Kors

Day 5 is a GREAT one! My close friend Courtney, had her baby girl early this morning! I am wearing this in her honor as she bought it for me at a vintage yard sale that I couldn't attend! She is like that, so  thoughtful and kind....which is going to make her the BEST mommy! I am off now to bake her some homemade chocolate chip cookies! Happy Wednesday everyone!

Day 4: Temptation!

The Dress, Top: Old Navy, Bag: Ross, Shoes: Miz Mooz,
Necklace: Vintage,
Bracelets, mixed

I was doing just fine with this whole "not shopping" thing until I saw an m. marie sale on Big Harry Deals! Let me just say, Meghan the boutique owner has the BEST style and her store is filled with wonderful treasures for the fashion lover! But I couldn't do it! I couldn't make the purchase. I have committed, and I have only a short 27 days to go. These challenges are good for me, and I know that it will be very rewarding in the end as I let God teach me about what is really important in life. But...here's to hoping she has another sale after my 27 days are up! :)

Day 3 of 31-October Dress Project

The Dress: Flower: Fancy Flea Chick, Shoes: Nicole Miller, Bangles: Mixed

My sweet friend Andrea, Star of Halloween Wars on Food Network, with her family

Fans that came to the premier party!

Left: My best friend A! Right: Sweet friend L!

Decor and details for the party were adorable!!!

Favorite musicians! George and Lemay

What I really wore on day 3 to the beach! At least I am honest!
I took a pass, and wore day 3 on the evening of day 2, so that I wouldn't have to wear the dress to the beach. There is NO way my dress is beach appropriate, and I couldn't take a chance of ruining it. What a great week celebrating Andrea! Her premier party, followed by a trip to the beach for her birthday. It was a PERFECT day, except for the flat tire...now that was an adventure, but we got help from the Road Ranger and were back on our way in no time! Sunning, laughing, and enjoying dinner at sunset-it doesn't get much better that that!

The Evolution of an Outfit

T-Shirt: Loft, Skirt: Ivy & Me-a Lakeland boutique, Shoes: Tory Burch, Jewelry: Mixed bag, Sunnies: Kenneth Cole. I have to say, although Tory Burch revas are mighty cute...they take some breaking in! These are JUST now bearable to wear! Maybe the way to buy them is second hand???

As I stood in the closet this morning I thought about the evolution of an outfit. You are standing in your closet trying to find the perfect outfit....since you have a blog of coarse, and what do you choose first? Top? Bottom? Accessories? I realized I have no format. Today, I picked this skirt because I haven't worn it in a while. I love the white T with it because you can jazz it up with some necklaces and out the door you go! So what's your routine? I would love to hear any fun strategies for wardrobe planning! Usually, mine begins with anything that does NOT need ironing! :)

DIY Fringe Scarf

DIY Fringe Scarf

What You Will Need:
-Old T-Shirt
-Good Scissors

Step 1:
Go through your old T-shirts and find a daring print or color combo. For a cleaner look, choose a solid.

Step 2:
Cut horizontally across the shirt, just below the armholes, to create a rectangular tube.

Step 3:
Working your way around the tube, make a series of vertical cuts that extend from the raw edge upward. The longer the cut, the longer the fringe will be.

Step 4:
Tug down on each strand to elongate it. You can also have some additional fun with it by knotting some of the ends!

Floral Friday

Dress & Shoes: Target, Belt: Nordstrom, Bag: Big Buddah

I baked and cooked all day long today! It was fun! I made dinner on the go for a sweet friend of mine that had surgery! I had to put on something to deliver it other than an apron, so I chose this little number! This is one of my favorite summer dresses! So light weight, a throw on and go! Just add some accessories and voila'! I think this will be great for winter also with tights, boots and a blazer! I hope everyone has a great weekend! I am going to get mine started now! XXOO

30 for 30 Day 5

I know I have missed a few days, but this is day 5 of the 30 for 30 Summer Remix by myself and stylist Courtney Philpot! Since I am such a bad blogger...you can catch up at our True Style column site at Lakeland Local. I do have good excuses though. Graduating nephews, end of the school year parties, graduation parties, laundry, groceries. Wheww just listing it all makes me tired. I hope everyone had a great weekend, we saw Taylor Swift last night and it was INCREDIBLE! It was my 10 y/o's first concert and she was BLOWN away, we 5 rows from the stage. I was sure to tell her that this was NOT the norm for a Taylor Swift concert or any concert for that matter. We got extremely lucky thanks to Jeni Taylor at 97 Country. Thank you Jeni!!!! Pictures to come tomorrow!

29 & 30 of 30-Woo HOO!

I did not cut my head off on purpose, I promise! No time to retake!

Well, the winter 30 day remix has come to an end. But honestly, remixing will forever be a part of my life! I love that over the past 30 days, I have been able to mix and match outfits and still get the same thrill as wearing a new outfit for the first time! As with the 30 day dress project, this has taught me a new appreciation for a closet full of clothes and GREAT staples! I have really enjoyed following other bloggers and getting inspiration from them, what a great resource! Day 29 was tons of fun! Top: Thrifted, Jeans: Old Navy, Cardigan: Nordstrom, Belt: J. Crew, Shoes: Guess, Watch: Michael Kors. My day 30 outfit was a tribute to my company Crescendo! We had a press conference this morning and it went fabulously! Our colors are orange and white so I was so excited to sport my orange lips today, a wonderful spring trend! Top & Scarf: Banana Republic, Pants: Victoria's Secret, Shoes: Nordstrom, Watch: Michael Kors.
