The Outfit of Yesterday

If you saw me today, you know I wasn't wearing this. I call it my #OOY (outfit of yesterday). It was quite windy, and I included a couple outtakes for your enjoyment. Hope you made it through hump day happily. 

Back at it!

I am back at it. As I sit in my cute little orange office, I hear the same voice in my head that speaks to me every time I come back from a break with my kids. Luckily when they are out of school, I can work mobile. It never fails, when we return to our normal routine I am haunted by a voice that says: "Buckle down, work more, get more clients, grow more, make more money, etc." Blah to the bliggity blah.

Who says smart business is always about getting bigger? Maybe some of us are just meant to handle small projects and grow as the seasons change in our lives. So this year, I refuse to let the voice win. I will NOT over commit and instead of worrying about getting more clients, I am going to sit back and let God bring them to me. Being available to my children is the most important thing I can do, and as much as I love working, I have to trust that I am doing just what God wants me to do in this season of my life.

So here's to being responsible with my time, and starting off the new work year right. Today I did it in color, wish me luck!

Workwear Remix

I have absolutely nothing to write about today. I paired a Vans t-shirt with a blazer and black pants and called it a day. Not shopping = mixing lots of casual items into my workwear! Happy halfway day! Halfway to Friday that is! :)

Awesome and Awkward Thursday-The Uniform

If I had to choose a uniform this would be it. White top, jeans, and a blazer. I mean really, what is more functional than that? Change it up with accessories and shoes, and out the door you go.

Thrifted Gift

Suit: Kay Unger, THRIFTED by a friend! 

The best things in life may be free....but in my world, thrifted gifts come in second.

Here's a little backstory: A couple of months ago, I was shopping for mugs for my DIY Christmas gifts at Goodwill. I came across this very Kay Unger suit. It was flawless, and in my size.

One problem, I am on a 12 month shopping fast. I nearly cried.

I thought about how I could justify it. It could be a gift from my husband, no one would know, etc. I walked away. Struggling with passing it up, I did what every social media addict does, I posted about it on Facebook. First, to note what a big step this was for me and secondly, to let others know about this steal. I mean, if I couldn't have it....someone should!

Well little did I know, my sweet friend Trish was reading the feed! She swiped it off the rack and held onto it for my birthday. How cool is THAT? You can imagine my surprise when I tore that gift open! So as my sweet friend Ida said recently, God cares about the details. I agree, every little one. My gift list just keeps on growing, I am so very blessed.

In"vest"ing

Today I not only wore a vest, but I invested. I invested in people, meeting with Polk Works to see how we can partner to help them with their clothing closet through our runway show next September. Getting dressed for work is as easy as walking to my closet. But many of the people going through the programs at Polk Works don't even own one work appropriate outfit. Perspective gained, and I thanked God. Even when my tripod and I awkwardly almost got run over in this alley. Blogger problems, ha!
